Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Made Stihl Tool I am a novice. The Depth Gauge Tool came in the pouch with the flat file and round file with guide bar. I'm able to follow the instructions, however I believe that a video should be created by Stihl to demonstrate to the novice all the wonderful features this tool has and how to use them. Safety is tantamount to the health of the arborist and forestry industry. Understanding the how and why of this tool to convince the owner/user to replace/service a saw chain in a timely manner will boost confidence in the user to utilize this and other Stihl products.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from file gauge The top plate angle and drag depth are pretty self explanatory. The side plate angle is what has me puzzled. I have sighted this with a brand new chain according to the chain spec and still don't really understand how to read the angle on the saw. I am guessing that four out of five ain't bad.1. top plate angle (check#2. drag depth #check#3. bar groove depth #check#4. bar groove cleaner #check#5. side plate angle reading # x )

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Needs instructions I got this tool as part of a Stihl sharpening kit. The problem is that are no instructions for how to use it. In particular, I'd like to know how raker depth gauge is supposed to be used.
